Tyler's Eagle project 10-21-08
As a Life Scout, Benjamin planned and led the building and installation of seven benches at a Donald Park. These benches were cut with the help of an old Scoutmaster, and then six boy scouts and I drilled, screwed, and bolted the benches together. Once they were finished, I arranged a date for the Boy Scout Troop to assist me in installing the benches at Donald park. It took us an hour to install all the benches, and afterwards my family and I provided an afternoon lunch.
Troop 62's Eagles
Cameron Penne of Mt. Horeb Troop 62 worked with the Mt. Horeb Parks and Recreation Dept. to complete his Eagle Project. His Eagle Project involved renovating the interior and exterior of the Garfield Ice Rink warming house. Some of the changes included repainting the interior and exterior, adding new carpet and insulation, updating and adding electrical lighting, and providing a decorative nod to Mt. Horeb's Norwegian history. In addition, Cameron established a "community skate program" in which donated ice skates were collected to provide a free outdoor opportunity for community members to use at the Garfield Ice Rink during the winter. Hopefully, this will build a sense of community and opportunities for the young and old to enjoy a longstanding Mt. Horeb tradition.
